Technical Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Technical Manager for our Chur office, with the possibility of remote work. You will ensure safe, reliable and cost‑effective technical operation of our fleet, complying with regulations and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical and organisational leadership to the technical team in coordination with Nautical/Technical Fleet Management.
• Support onboard personnel with technical issues, conduct ship visits, and assess safety standards.
• Plan and manage shipyard periods, winter maintenance, refits and modernisation projects, coordinating external contractors.
• Develop and maintain the Planned Maintenance System, technical guidelines, and preventive maintenance schedules.
• Review ship reports and maintenance records, initiating corrective actions to improve safety and efficiency.
• Develop, monitor and manage budgets for fuel, technical maintenance and shipyard periods, including cost analyses and forecasts.
• Oversee technical purchasing and spare‑parts management together with the Purchasing Department.
• Develop technical personnel through performance reviews, coaching, training and contribute to recruitment and succession planning.

Required profile

• Degree in marine engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or naval architecture, or comparable qualification.
• Nautical or engineering certificate of competency, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience in shore‑based technical fleet management, preferably in the cruise industry.
• Excellent German and English language skills; additional languages are a plus.
• Strong leadership, organisational and project‑management abilities.
