Training & Legal Support Attorney

About the role

The Training & Legal Support Attorney will serve as a national resource for pro bono immigration attorneys, focusing on detained immigrants. Working remotely, the attorney will create and maintain innovative training materials, mentor volunteers, and keep the Campaign’s online training hub current.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver training programs, practice guides, templates, and webinars on bond, parole, asylum, removal defense, and related topics.
• Stay current on immigration laws, regulations, and best practices to ensure training content is accurate.
• Maintain and update the Campaign’s training webpage, making it a leading resource for new practitioners.
• Provide mentorship and technical assistance to pro bono attorneys and volunteers.
• Respond to inquiries on practice procedures, substantive relief, and release strategies.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor degree and admission to practice law.
• Demonstrated experience in immigration law, especially with detained clients.
• Commitment to the mission of the American Immigration Council and a collaborative, philanthropic culture.
• Ability to create clear, practical training materials for a national audience.
