Accounting Trainee – Headquarters (Geneva)

About the role

Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) is looking for a trainee accountant to join its Geneva headquarters accounting team. The team covers HQ accounting (suppliers, treasury, taxes) and field accounting for MSF's intervention countries. The trainee works mainly with the supplier accountant and can occasionally support the rest of the HQ and field teams. The internship is based in Geneva, full-time (40 hours per week), and starts in late March 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, check (legal and tax aspects) and book supplier invoices through the invoicing software and the accounting ERP (MS Dynamics D365).
• Support monthly and quarterly supplier reconciliations, such as debtor controls and ageing analysis.
• Take part in year-end closing and audit preparation.
• Occasionally help with ad-hoc analyses, expense note processing and internal control documentation.

Required profile

• Currently studying or finishing higher education.
• Eligible for a third-party internship agreement.
• Good written and spoken French, good written English, German is an advantage.
• Organised, proactive, able to handle several activities at once, with a synthesis mindset.
• An interest in international solidarity is an asset; prior finance/accounting experience is an advantage.

Required skills

• Common office tools.
• Knowledge of an ERP is an advantage.

What we offer

• Tripartite internship agreement.
• Duration of 6 to 9 months depending on the agreement.
• Gross monthly remuneration of CHF 2,000.
