Advanced Data Engineer

About the role

Zühlke, a Swiss technology and innovation partner founded in 1968, is hiring an Advanced Data Engineer in Schlieren. The company is investing heavily in AI and data and is known for building data platforms and data-driven solutions. As an Advanced Data Engineer you design, implement and maintain data pipelines, work closely with clients to understand their data needs and deliver tailored solutions that drive business insights.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a trusted advisor, guiding customers toward a successful technical solution to their data challenges
• Explain the what, why and how of proposed solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Develop, test and monitor distributed data processing pipelines
• Transform diverse data sources into high-quality, reproducible datasets in a scalable and maintainable way
• Collaborate with architects, software engineers and data scientists
• Deliver projects in an Agile way, delivering value from data early and frequently

Required profile

• University degree (ETH, Uni, FH) in computer science, software engineering, data science or a comparable field
• At least 3 years in data or software engineering positions
• Experience designing, building and maintaining data products for data consumers
• Fluency in both German and English

Required skills

• Data architecture approaches such as Data Lake, Data Lakehouse, Medallion, streaming and batch processing
• Cloud data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric or Amazon Sagemaker
• Python and SQL
• Hands-on experience with Apache Spark, Delta Lake, Airflow, Kafka, Kubernetes, Terraform, FastAPI and/or Scala, R, Java, TypeScript or .NET
• Relational and non-relational databases, big data infrastructure and structured/unstructured data
• Agile development and DevOps methodologies
