Advanced Data Engineer

About the role

Zühlke, a Swiss technology and engineering group founded in 1968, is investing heavily in AI and data and is looking for an Advanced Data Engineer. You will design, implement and maintain data pipelines, work closely with clients to understand their data needs and deliver tailored solutions that turn data into business insights.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a trusted advisor, guiding customers toward a successful technical solution and explaining the what, why and how to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Develop, test and monitor distributed data processing pipelines.
• Transform diverse data sources into high-quality, reproducible datasets in a scalable and maintainable way.
• Collaborate with architects, software engineers and data scientists, and deliver projects in an Agile way.

Required profile

• University degree (ETH, Uni, FH) in computer science, software engineering, data science or a comparable field.
• At least 3 years in data or software engineering positions.
• Experience designing, building and maintaining data products for data consumers.
• Fluency in both German and English.

Required skills

• Data architectures such as Data Lake, Data Lakehouse, Medallion, streaming and batch processing.
• Cloud platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric or Amazon Sagemaker.
• Python and SQL; hands-on interest in Apache Spark, Delta Lake, Airflow, Kafka, Kubernetes, Terraform, FastAPI and Scala, R, Java, TypeScript or .NET.
• Relational and non-relational databases, big data infrastructure and structured/unstructured data.
• Agile development and DevOps.
