AI-Native Software Engineering Lead / Agentic Development Expert

About the role

An experienced, hands-on AI-Native Software Engineering Lead is sought to transform software development practices in a complex enterprise banking environment. The goal is to modernise the Product Development Lifecycle (PDLC) and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) with AI-powered coding agents, autonomous engineering workflows and AI-first methods. The role does not build traditional AI applications or chatbots; instead it works with engineering teams to show how AI agents can automate the software development process, from requirements analysis to deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Drive adoption of AI-native software engineering practices within established enterprise development teams.
• Design, implement and optimise agentic development workflows using AI coding agents and LLM-powered automation.
• Automate engineering activities such as requirements analysis, codebase exploration, solution design, code generation, testing, code reviews and deployment preparation.
• Integrate AI-powered tools, especially GitHub Copilot and autonomous coding agents, into existing engineering environments.
• Turn traditional SDLC processes into AI-first workflows with clear human oversight and quality gates.
• Build practical proofs of concept and roll out AI-driven automation in existing enterprise applications and complex codebases.
• Set up governance for AI-generated code, validation, traceability, approval workflows and accountability.
• Work with software engineers, architects, DevOps specialists and platform teams, and mentor them in AI-assisted and autonomous practices.
• Run technical workshops, demonstrations and knowledge-sharing sessions to speed up AI adoption.

Required profile

• Extensive software engineering experience, including designing, developing, testing and maintaining enterprise applications.
• Proven hands-on experience with AI-powered development tools and coding agents, preferably GitHub Copilot.
• Demonstrated experience implementing AI-powered automation or agentic workflows in large-scale projects, not just standalone prototypes.
• Experience mentoring software engineers and introducing new tools, practices and methodologies.
• Excellent communication, consulting and stakeholder management skills.

Required skills

• LLMs, Generative AI, tool/function calling, RAG, structured extraction and agentic workflows.
• Complete SDLC and PDLC, including requirements engineering, software architecture, testing and deployment.
• Complex enterprise codebases, established architectures and mature engineering processes.
• DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and engineering automation.
