AI Operations Specialist – FinOps & AI Cost Management

About the role

LGT is looking for an AI Operations Specialist with a technical IT background to work 80-100% in Zurich. The role combines application development and the use of AI services in specific use cases, analysing how they are used, where costs arise and which technical changes can improve efficiency. It sits at the intersection of technical teams and Finance, helping AI remain financially sustainable across projects, products and platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Work with developers, data scientists, AI users, platform teams and Finance to understand AI use cases, identify cost drivers and develop improvements.
• Track AI costs at a granular level, including API calls, token usage, model runs and infrastructure consumption.
• Build and maintain reports, dashboards and forecasting models for AI workload growth, spending trends and budget utilisation.
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities such as right-sizing models, better caching and more efficient usage patterns.
• Monitor AI usage across native and third-party cloud cost management and observability platforms, including AWS, Azure and GCP.
• Investigate unusual consumption patterns, find root causes and work with developers and AI users on corrective actions.
• Support planning, forecasting and budgeting for AI initiatives, and contribute to governance, standards, KPIs and reporting for AI spending.
• Promote FinOps best practices for AI and work with existing FinOps practitioners covering Azure and on-premises environments.

Required profile

• 2-3 years of experience in a technical IT role such as software development, application operations or cloud engineering, plus FinOps or cloud cost management experience.
• Good understanding of modern AI and machine learning ecosystems.
• Strong analytical skills and excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Very good German and English.

Required skills

• Modern AI platforms such as AWS SageMaker, Bedrock, Azure AI Services and Azure OpenAI.
• Cost observability and monitoring tools.
