Analytical Chemistry Team Leader

About the role

FMC is looking for an experienced Analytical Chemistry Team Leader to join its Global R&D Technology team in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. You will lead a group of analytical scientists, manage a GLP‑compliant laboratory and drive method development for raw materials, intermediates and finished products.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, develop and mentor a team of analytical scientists, ensuring high‑quality GLP‑compliant work.
• Establish and manage laboratory workflows, SOPs, training programs and operational excellence.
• Develop, validate and implement analytical methods for raw materials, intermediates and finished products.
• Prepare for and coordinate regulatory inspections, maintaining compliance with GLP and industry standards.
• Oversee equipment maintenance, calibration, budgeting and resource management.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on product development, investigations and problem‑solving.
• Review and approve technical reports, protocols and laboratory documentation.

Required profile

• PhD in Analytical Chemistry or related field with 5+ years industry experience (or MSc with 8+ years).
• Proven experience leading and developing scientific teams.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment.
• Fluency in English; German is a plus.

Required skills

• HPLC, GC, MS, NMR and other spectroscopy techniques.
• Analytical method development and validation in regulated settings.
• Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and data analysis software.
• Experience managing external partners such as CROs and CDMOs.
