Application Engineer – High Performance Liquid Cooling Solutions

About the role

Apheros, a startup developing metal foam-based cooling solutions for AI data centers, is looking for an experienced Application Engineer to act as the primary technical partner for customers adopting its liquid cooling products. The role works directly with enterprise customers and the engineering team, turning real-world system requirements into deployment-ready solutions. It is full-time (80-100%), open to F/M/D, and based near the train station in Baden, Switzerland.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary pre-sale technical lead for customers adopting liquid cooling solutions, engaging with the data center hardware ecosystem to understand thermal and fluidic requirements.
• Develop technical use cases and performance models that show the value, efficiency and ROI of the cooling solutions.
• Drive proof-of-concept demonstrations and performance validations.
• Work with R&D and Engineering teams so that customer insights on materials, thermal science and high-performance computing are reflected in product development.
• Build and maintain customer relationships as a trusted technical advisor helping clients optimise thermal performance and data center efficiency.

Required profile

• 3 to 5 years of experience as an application engineer, solutions engineer or in a pre-sales role in data center, HPC or thermal management environments.
• Strong technical understanding of liquid cooling systems and data center cooling requirements.
• Excellent customer-facing skills with engineers, systems architects and executives.
• Ability to turn customer needs into clear inputs for Product Development and Engineering.
• Pragmatic, collaborative and adaptable, comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Nice to have: advanced technical understanding or degree in thermal management, fluid dynamics or data center infrastructure, and a track record in technical sales in electronics hardware, HPC or data centers.
