Application Engineer – Integrated Photonics

About the role

LIGENTEC is looking for an Application Engineer to bridge customer needs with its integrated photonics solutions. You will combine technical expertise with sales engagement to drive business growth and ensure customer success.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute sales strategies, manage the full sales cycle from lead to contract.
• Translate complex customer requirements into technical specifications and deliver proof‑of‑concept PIC designs.
• Provide pre‑ and post‑sales technical support, maintain high‑level customer relationships, and discuss Statements of Work with engineering teams.
• Contribute to marketing activities such as application notes, webinars, and lead‑generation talks.
• Feed market trends and customer feedback to product management and R&D, and support grant‑proposal writing.

Required profile

• MSc or PhD in Photonics or a related field with at least 3 years of hands‑on experience in integrated optics.
• Strong problem‑solving ability, excellent communication skills in English, and a customer‑focused mindset.
• Proven ability to work independently and within multicultural, cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Integrated optics and photonic integrated circuit (PIC) design.
• Industry‑standard photonics software tools.
• Technical sales and business development.
• Experience drafting Statements of Work or managing grant‑funded projects (nice to have).
