Associate Information Analyst – Political Affairs (Temporary)

About the role

The Independent Institution on Missing Persons in the Syrian Arab Republic (IIMP) seeks an Associate Information Analyst to support research and analysis on missing persons cases. The role is full‑time, temporary, and based in Geneva with possible relocation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct open‑source research in Arabic and English to collect multi‑source information on missing persons.
• Review, assess, and validate data from diverse sources, identifying gaps, inconsistencies, and patterns.
• Compile, cross‑reference, and structure information across cases, incidents, locations and sources, maintaining relevant databases.
• Prepare analytical summaries, visualisations, briefings and other information products for senior staff.
• Participate in meetings with IIMP colleagues and external partners to exchange and analyse information.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s) in criminology, law, Middle Eastern studies, human rights, political/social science, information management or related fields (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum two years of progressively responsible experience in research, information analysis, data analysis or open‑source research.
• Experience with databases, analytical software or information‑management tools is desirable.
• Knowledge of the Syrian context or the wider Middle East region is an asset.
• Fluency in English and Arabic (UN Level III in reading, writing, listening and speaking).
