Associate Professor in Social Policy and Care

About the role

The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) seeks an Associate Professor to join the Competence Centre for Social Research (CReS) within the Department of Business Economics, Health and Social Care. The position focuses on social policy and care, contributing to interdisciplinary research and teaching that addresses contemporary social challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct high‑quality research on social protection, care, inclusion, and well‑being, with an emphasis on institutional and relational dimensions.
• Develop and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in social policy, social work, and related fields.
• Supervise student theses and support continuing education programmes for social work professionals.
• Collaborate with national and international partners to secure research funding and disseminate findings.
• Participate in the Centre’s thematic projects covering work transformation, family policies, gender equality, youth, migration, and urban dynamics.

Required profile

• Doctorate (PhD) in Social Policy, Sociology, Social Work, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated scientific seniority and a strong publication record in the social sciences.
• Experience in interdisciplinary research and applied social research projects.
• Ability to engage with local institutions, NGOs, and policy makers.

Required skills

• Advanced research methodology (quantitative and qualitative).
• Academic writing and peer‑review publication experience.
• Teaching and curriculum development in higher education.
