Automation Engineer Apprenticeship (EFZ) 2027

About the role

SKAN, a company founded in 1968 that designs cleanroom equipment and isolators for the pharmaceutical industry, offers a 4-year dual apprenticeship in automation engineering. The apprenticeship lasts 4 years, with vocational school attendance of 2 days per week in Basel, and covers the mechanical, electrical and metal industries. It gives an overview of the whole company through rotations in different departments.

Key responsibilities

• First year: external basic training in electronics and automation at the Gewerbeschule in Basel
• Subsequent training in the internal automation departments
• Build automated control systems and programme and test products
• Test products and gain insight into product testing and project management
• Contact and advise external customers
• Work closely with project managers and engineers; from the 3rd year, customer visits at home and abroad are possible

Required profile

• Completed intermediate or upper secondary school
• Good grades in mathematics and physics
• Very good knowledge of German
• Good knowledge of English; other languages are an advantage
• Strong technical understanding, careful and accurate work, perseverance and patience
