Backend Engineer

About the role

We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to help build the systems behind Ontinue’s internal and customer‑facing experiences. This is not a classic “just build APIs” role; you’ll work on services and systems that power product experiences, investigation workflows, and customer‑facing platforms with real business logic, storage, event‑driven architecture, and performance‑sensitive data flows.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and evolve backend services that support internal tools and customer‑facing platforms.
• Implement APIs, event‑driven workflows, and services using .NET/C# on Azure.
• Work with Azure services such as Service Bus, Azure Functions, Azure Storage and related cloud components.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product stakeholders and SOC analysts to deliver thoughtful solutions.
• Use AI‑assisted development tools to increase speed and quality.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (Terraform) where applicable.

Required profile

• At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong experience with .NET and C#.
• Practical experience developing cloud‑based services on Azure.
• Experience building or maintaining event‑driven systems.
• Solid software‑engineering fundamentals, including maintainable code, testing and debugging.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative product environment with evolving requirements.
• Curious and adaptable, especially when using AI‑assisted development tools.
• Clear communicator who enjoys cross‑team collaboration.
