Backend Software Engineer – Remote (Europe)

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer to join a fast‑moving SaaS team that powers a modern compensation platform used across Europe. The role is fully remote within Europe, allowing you to shape technical decisions and influence product outcomes while collaborating with product, design and engineering colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services that support benefits, payments and flexible compensation experiences.
• Build and evolve APIs, database solutions and architectural components to improve performance and maintainability.
• Implement production‑ready systems with strong testing, monitoring, observability and resilience.
• Own features end‑to‑end from discovery through deployment and continuous improvement.
• Partner with product managers, designers and engineers to define the right solutions for customer needs.
• Contribute technical expertise during product discovery, challenge assumptions and help shape direction.
• Optimize system performance, error handling, latency and data consistency.
• Apply AI‑assisted development practices to boost productivity.

Required profile

• Strong fundamentals in backend engineering and experience building reliable production systems.
• Product mindset with the ability to contribute to product decisions.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative, remote environment and sharing knowledge with teammates.
