Business Risk Manager (Fixed-Term Maternity Cover, 12 Months)

About the role

Julius Baer is hiring a Business Risk Manager (BRM) in Zurich for a fixed-term maternity cover contract of 12 months. The BRM works in the first line of defence and supports the region in managing and monitoring risk across the entire client lifecycle. The role involves advising front management on risk matters, supporting risk-related approvals, facilitating collaboration between the three lines of defence, delivering regional and market risk reporting and driving risk initiatives across the bank.

Key responsibilities

• Support the front office with risk tasks such as risk and control self-assessments, assessment and handling of operational risk incidents, and ad hoc business risk and conduct reviews
• Work with the second and third lines of defence, front management and other stakeholders to ensure a coherent approach to risk management
• Prepare and deliver regional and market risk reporting with the second line of defence, covering risk sessions and regulatory and quality assurance concerns
• Drive risk awareness and training initiatives, and give risk-related advice on regional and market projects
• Monitor and support remediation of risks, incidents and control issues identified by the second line of defence, audits and regulators
• Coordinate with other BRMs and with compliance, legal and other internal stakeholders
• Lead change initiatives to improve risk management processes and support strategic decisions that balance business objectives with risk

Required profile

• Banking apprenticeship and/or higher education
• At least 4 years of experience in a similar role in private banking
• In-depth knowledge of risk management principles and practices across markets
• Fluent English; German is an asset
• Natural team player, systematic and precise, able to work under pressure
