Clinical Sciences Trial Leader – Translational Medicine

About the role

Novartis is seeking experienced Clinical Sciences Trial Leaders to plan and execute early‑phase translational medicine studies in Basel. The role involves leading complex clinical trials from design through final reporting, ensuring patient‑centricity and scientific rigor.

Key responsibilities

• Operationally and scientifically lead global clinical studies, from first‑in‑human to Phase 2a.
• Develop study protocols, operational plans, and required documentation.
• Manage matrixed trial teams and collaborate with investigators, service providers, and internal functions.
• Oversee clinical data review and ensure quality standards throughout the trial lifecycle.
• Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to the optimization of trial methodologies.
• Leverage digital tools and data analytics to enhance trial efficiency.

Required profile

• Minimum BSc in life sciences; MSc, PharmD or PhD preferred.
• 2‑4 years of clinical trial management experience for the Trial Leader level, 4+ years for the Senior level.
• Strong knowledge of drug development processes, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Demonstrated leadership potential (Trial Leader) or proven leadership experience (Senior).
