Community Engineer (multiple roles & seniority levels)

About the role

We are seeking a Community Engineer to shape and scale global open‑source communities that power widely used Linux‑based technologies. Working fully remote, you will act as the bridge between developers, contributors, and internal engineering teams, aligning community initiatives with technical roadmaps.

Key responsibilities

• Design, coordinate and scale programs that increase engagement across open‑source ecosystems.
• Serve as liaison between community contributors and product, engineering, and developer‑relations teams.
• Improve contribution workflows, reduce friction and enable successful delivery of technical projects.
• Create high‑quality written content such as blog posts, updates and documentation.
• Engage on forums, chat platforms, social channels and at events to represent the organization.
• Identify and drive improvements to community tooling, processes and contributor experience at scale.

Required profile

• Strong passion for open‑source software, Linux ecosystems and collaborative development.
• Demonstrated public track record of community engagement (e.g., GitHub contributions, talks, blog posts).
• Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Strong organizational and program‑management abilities to lead cross‑functional initiatives.

Required skills

• Version control systems (Git, GitHub).
• CI/CD pipelines and related tooling.
• Packaging, DevOps practices and container technologies.
• Experience with Linux‑based systems, preferably Ubuntu or similar distributions.
