Consultant, Counsellor Psychosocial Support

About the role

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) seeks a qualified Psychosocial Support (PSS) Consultant to provide confidential counselling and mental‑health services to staff and volunteers. The role is based in Geneva and supports the global Psychological Support Programme.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver individual counselling sessions on request, ensuring strict confidentiality.
• Conduct briefings, debriefings and critical‑incident debriefings for staff, both individually and in groups, following established SOPs.
• Develop and maintain a secure file‑management system in collaboration with the Occupational Health, Safety and Wellbeing (OHSW) unit.
• Provide training, webinars or workshops on stress management and psychological support topics.
• Contribute to PSS reporting, statistics and annual reporting while preserving client confidentiality.
• Participate in regular PSP virtual meetings and ensure timely upload of statistics and responses to requests.

Required profile

• University degree in Psychology or Psychotherapy with professional licensure.
• Experience in psychological management of trauma cases, critical incidents, and counselling in a non‑native language.
• Preferred training in psycho‑traumatology or critical‑incident debriefing.
• Fluent spoken and written English; French highly desirable.
• Ability to work in multicultural, multi‑disciplinary teams and to travel on short notice.
