Critical Operations Technician – Data Center (Switzerland)

About the role

The Critical Operations Technician (COT) ensures the data‑center runs smoothly 24/7, preventing downtime of essential services. You will join a dedicated on‑site team that monitors, maintains and repairs all mechanical and electrical plant equipment in a high‑availability environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform operational, preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Carry out daily and weekly inspections of critical rooms, systems and infrastructure.
• Monitor alarms from Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Power Management Systems (EPMS) and other tools, responding promptly.
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults, interpret schematics and diagrams.
• Execute isolation and reinstatement of power, cooling, fire‑alarm and gas‑suppression systems when authorised.
• Manage emergency situations, escalating incidents according to procedures.
• Maintain accurate logs in the Facility Management System and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Support technical quotations, project execution and documentation storage.
• Escort visitors for security or operational reasons and ensure housekeeping standards.

Required profile

• Trade certificate or vocational degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience with electrical or mechanical systems in a critical or data‑center environment.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance fundamentals and ability to work autonomously.
• Detail‑oriented with a broad perspective and willingness to learn new systems.
• Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work alone or within a team.
