Data Scientist – QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey

About the role

QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey, is looking for a Data Scientist to work in multi-disciplinary environments, using data to help organisations worldwide improve their businesses. You will work on complex, varied data sets from some of the world's largest organisations, developing data science products and solutions for clients and for internal data teams, and presenting findings and recommendations to internal and client stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Work on complex data sets from large organisations to solve real-world problems
• Develop data science products and solutions for clients and internal data teams, focusing on modelling and working alongside the Data Engineering team
• Present findings, recommendations and provide consultation to internal and client stakeholders
• Build large-scale data and analytics solutions and learn best practices in data and analytics development, including frameworks, data security, sustainability and scalability
• Collaborate with data scientists, data/ML engineers, designers, project managers and business experts on interdisciplinary projects
• Keep up to date with data science tools and techniques and develop client-facing communication and presentation skills

Required profile

• Degree in (business) math, statistics, machine learning, data science, physics, computer science or engineering; Master's or PhD in a related field is a plus
• Up to 2 years of hands-on experience applying advanced data science methods and implementing technical data solutions such as machine learning models
• Strong grasp of the analytics landscape, including business intelligence, machine learning, AI and generative AI
• Proven advisory work and proven leadership in a work setting or through extracurricular activities
• German and English proficiency, with the ability to explain complex analytical concepts to non-technical audiences

Required skills

• Python and SQL (data and analytics focus)
• Cloud-based analytical tools such as AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud
• Generative AI application development
• Commonly used tools include PySpark, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Databricks, Docker, Kubernetes, Kedro, CausalNex and MLRun
