DevOps Engineer (UNIX/Linux, Middleware & Kubernetes)

About the role

FORFIRM is looking for an experienced middle DevOps Engineer to join its international team and contribute to complex infrastructure projects for Swiss and European clients. The role suits someone with hands-on expertise in large-scale UNIX and Linux environments, middleware platforms, container orchestration and infrastructure automation, who can work autonomously and collaborate well in cross-functional technical teams.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and administer IBM WebSphere, Open Liberty and related middleware in development, test and production environments, supporting packaging, deployment and ongoing operations.
• Help design and maintain web application infrastructure using Java.NET or Python.
• Run Kubernetes deployments in production and non-production environments.
• Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code with Ansible and Terraform, and write Bash and Python automation scripts.
• Engineer UNIX systems for deployment, performance and maintenance, tune performance and troubleshoot TCP/IP networking issues.
• Take part in technical reviews and help reach consensus on solutions.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of experience administering large-scale UNIX environments; AIX 7 knowledge is a plus.
• At least 5 years of Linux administration, covering RHEL and Debian.
• Strong Bash and Python scripting, and good English and Italian, written and spoken.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage priorities and mentor colleagues.
• Willingness to relocate to Canton Ticino or areas near the Italian border; fully remote work is not available.
