Director of Business Development – CRO & Software Solutions (Remote Europe)

About the role

Emmes Group is seeking a seasoned Director of Business Development to drive revenue growth across its CRO services and AI‑enabled software solutions. This remote position focuses on new‑business acquisition within the bio‑pharma sector.

Key responsibilities

• Drive net‑new business growth by securing new customers and expanding existing accounts across Emmes’ CRO and software solutions portfolio.
• Sell CRO capabilities (clinical operations, data management, biostatistics, regulatory support, consulting, therapeutic expertise) and software/technology offerings (clinical data platforms, digital trial solutions, AI‑enabled analytics, data intelligence products).
• Develop and execute strategic account plans, lead executive meetings, proposals and bid‑defense sessions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to create integrated solutions and ensure alignment between sales commitments and delivery capabilities.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of the clinical development lifecycle and the evolving role of technology in drug development.
• Proven experience selling consultative, solution‑based services and SaaS/AIaaS in the bio‑pharma space.
• Exceptional presentation, negotiation and executive‑level relationship skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a matrixed, cross‑functional environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of CRO services, clinical trials, decentralized trials, data management and AI‑enabled healthcare solutions.
• Proficiency with CRM platforms, Microsoft Office Suite and commercial reporting tools.
