Economic Affairs Intern

About the role

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) is seeking a motivated Economic Affairs Intern to support the Policy Analysis and Research Branch of the Division for Africa, Least Developed Countries and Special Programmes. The internship can be carried out on‑site in Geneva or remotely, offering a valuable opportunity to contribute to the 2026 Least Developed Countries Report and related technical assistance projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in statistical data analysis and verification for research reports.
• Support the drafting of project proposals, policy briefs, reports and other documentation.
• Help organise workshops, preparing training materials, presentations and evaluation questionnaires.
• Attend online conferences and meetings, providing concise summary reports.
• Create infographics and format materials for desktop publication.

Required profile

• Current enrolment in a university programme related to economics, international development or a similar field.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently under the supervision of the Economic Affairs Officer.
• For on‑site interns, a valid visa for Switzerland and the capacity to cover travel, accommodation and living expenses.

Required skills

• Proficiency with statistical analysis tools.
• Experience using Microsoft Office 365 applications.
• Familiarity with Windows operating system security settings.
