ECVN Neurology Residency Training Program (Veterinary)

About the role

The University of Bern's Kleintierklinik (Small Animal University Hospital) of the Vetsuisse Faculty offers a 100% full-time, 3.5-year fixed-term ECVN neurology residency training program in Bern. Trainees work daily with two neurologists, supported by European and American specialist clinicians in many disciplines, in a central location with easy access to sites.

Key responsibilities

• Clinical time: supervised daily patient care, consultations, diagnostic procedures and neurosurgeries
• Weekly neurology journal and book clubs, radiology and neuropathology rounds
• Teaching of students and interns, and emergency out-of-hours duty
• Off-clinic time: 4-5 months to complete ECVN credentials, including rotations in related specialties and a personal research project; international congresses are encouraged

Required profile

• Veterinary degree
• At least two years of general practice experience and/or completion of a rotating or specialty internship
• Proficiency in English, German and French (basic knowledge of the third language required, with a commitment to improve)
• Ideally some exposure to neurology
• Willingness to take part in emergency duty, teaching and academic activities
