Electrical Technician – HTS & Superconducting Magnet Testing

About the role
You will join the High‑Luminosity LHC upgrade team to qualify and characterise high‑temperature superconductor (HTS) tapes and cables. The position offers hands‑on training in cryogenics, superconductivity, and the assembly of high‑field magnets and high‑current power transmission systems.
Key responsibilities
- Perform reel‑to‑reel indirect critical current measurements.
- Conduct direct critical current and contact‑resistance measurements.
- Analyse experimental data and present test results.
- Install instrumentation in superconducting magnets.
- Participate in assembly and testing of 100 kA class power transmission systems for the HL‑LHC.
- Verify and validate integrated instrumentation.
Required profile
- Maximum two years of professional experience in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
- Experience in electrical testing or material testing (the latter is a plus).
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Fluent in English or French, with willingness to learn the other language.
- National of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
