Engineering Office Manager – Design Team Lead

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Engineering Office Manager to lead the design office at Alfa Laval’s Allschwil site, a world‑leader in cryogenic pump design and manufacture. The role combines team leadership, project execution and process improvement to deliver high‑quality engineering solutions for customer projects.

Key responsibilities

• Act as technical authority and lead a team of design engineers, planning and allocating work to meet project timelines.
• Ensure engineering deliverables comply with customer specifications, contractual requirements, budgets and relevant regulations.
• Review and validate design outputs, define and enforce design rules, best practices and quality standards.
• Oversee creation and consolidation of P&IDs and 3D layouts, integrating process engineering inputs.
• Drive standardisation, modularisation and automation of design activities, maintaining engineering tools and databases.
• Define, track and analyse KPIs for the Engineering Office and participate in project reviews and audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in mechanical or systems design within an industrial manufacturing environment, preferably with cryogenic, process or rotating equipment.
• Proven experience leading and managing a technical design team.
• Strong understanding of P&IDs, 3D layout design and applicable industrial standards.
• Ability to combine hands‑on technical expertise with effective leadership and organisational skills.
• Fluency in English and French (written and spoken).

• PDM Vault (or similar product data management system)

• Knowledge of pressure equipment standards, ATEX and IECEx certifications
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
