Engineering Team Leader

About the role

This is a high‑impact leadership role at the intersection of engineering execution, team development and AI‑driven software delivery. You will lead a small, high‑performing team of engineers while actively contributing to product development and technical decision‑making in a fully remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of 3‑5 engineers, ensuring high‑quality delivery and healthy team dynamics.
• Balance hands‑on engineering work with leadership duties, contributing directly to product development.
• Own hiring, onboarding and continuous development of engineers, providing feedback, coaching and mentorship.
• Drive team planning, prioritisation and execution with a focus on delivery efficiency and product outcomes.
• Act as the primary spokesperson for the team, aligning with stakeholders and communicating progress.
• Define and implement modern engineering workflows using AI and agentic systems to improve speed, quality and scalability.
• Introduce verification mechanisms such as testing, evaluation and guardrails to ensure reliable and secure software.
• Collaborate across teams to improve engineering processes, system design and organisational effectiveness.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing 2‑5 engineers with formal responsibility for performance and delivery.
• Strong backend engineering background with experience in production systems.
• Demonstrated ability to ship secure, scalable and reliable software in complex environments.
• Experience designing or adopting automation, workflow orchestration or agentic systems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to align engineering, product and business stakeholders.
• Systems‑thinking mindset with the ability to break down complex problems into clear specifications.
