European Legal Counsel – One-Year Maternity Cover

About the role

Glencore is seeking a European Legal Counsel to cover a one‑year maternity leave. The role is based in‑house and supports a wide range of legal matters across sustainability, HSEC, human rights, regulatory compliance, employment, and commercial law.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee legal aspects of HSEC and human‑rights programmes, ensuring regulatory compliance and risk management.
• Provide legal support to the Responsible Sourcing team and advise on sustainability initiatives.
• Monitor European regulatory developments in natural resources, mining and energy and assess implementation implications.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements for various business units.
• Advise on employment law matters, including contracts, labour relations and employee benefits.
• Support Corporate Affairs with guidance on external communications and reputational issues.

Required profile

• Law degree with bar admission; LL.M. or equivalent preferred.
• 3‑5 years of post‑graduate experience in a generalist in‑house or private practice role.
• Professional proficiency in German or French and fluent English; Spanish is a plus.
• Experience in regulated sectors such as mining, energy or manufacturing.
• Swiss work permit or passport holder of CH/EU/EFTA.
