Finance Director

About the role

The International Cocoa Initiative (ICI) seeks a Finance Director for its Geneva Secretariat. The role involves leading finance and procurement functions across ICI’s offices in Switzerland and West Africa, with frequent travel to the region.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for financial performance, risk management and procurement, serving on the Senior Management Team.
• Oversee all financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, audits and compliance with donor requirements.
• Develop, maintain and optimise accounting systems, policies and procedures, ensuring robust financial controls.
• Lead, manage and develop finance and procurement staff in Geneva, Ivory Coast, Ghana and Cameroon, including performance reviews and capacity‑building.
• Supervise procurement activities, ensuring policies are effective and compliant.

Required profile

• Master’s or advanced degree/certification in Finance or Accounting.
• At least 10 years of finance and accounting experience, including 3+ years in senior management (CFO/Finance Director).
• Familiarity with international development donors and their reporting requirements.
• Proven ability to design and implement financial systems in dynamic, multi‑country organisations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
• Willingness to travel frequently in West Africa.

• Proficiency with SUNSYSTEM accounting software.
