French Teacher (Years 9-12)

About the role

The British School of Geneva, founded in 2005 and offering the full English National Curriculum from EYFS to A Levels, is recruiting an experienced French teacher for Years 9-12 (ages 14-19). The school is part of The International School Partnership and places student learning at the centre of its work.

Key responsibilities

• Teach French to students aged 14-19, including preparing them for external examinations in Years 12 and 13.
• Deliver scheduled staff duties, act as form tutor and run after-school activities.
• Work within a French department of four teachers, which also covers primary, secondary and 6th Form, and offers an immersive, communicative approach to French alongside literature and culture.
• Contribute to the subject department and the wider staff community, and go beyond the mainstream curriculum to enrich the student experience.

Required profile

• BA in French Language, Literature and Culture or an internationally recognised equivalent.
• PGCE teaching qualification or recognised equivalent.
• Ability to teach French at Key Stage 3-5 with Pearson EDEXCEL or equivalent.
• Ability to teach students ranging from native speakers to beginners.
• Fluency in French at C2 or higher.
• Current work permit to work in Switzerland, Swiss residency, or Frontalier status.
• 10-year police clearance record (including an international child protection certificate or equivalent).
• Two written references.
