Full-time House Parent (Boarding School)

About the role

The House Parent is the heart of the boarding community, providing a warm, flexible, and proactive environment for students. Working full‑time on site, you will act as a mentor, role model, and leader, ensuring pupils feel safe, supported, and encouraged to pursue personal growth.

Key responsibilities

• Act "in loco parentis" to safeguard students' emotional, social and physical well‑being, collaborating with counselling and health services.
• Stay overnight in the house when on duty and respond to crises, maintenance issues or emergencies.
• Monitor academic progress, liaise with teachers and support students to achieve their goals.
• Promote teamwork, respect and responsibility, fostering a positive house culture.
• Participate actively in student activities, leading by example and encouraging diverse interests.
• Oversee daily logistics such as dining supervision, weekend events and occasional transportation, including driving students when required.
• Maintain regular communication with parents about well‑being, academic performance and personal development.
• Keep accurate administrative records and ensure smooth house operations.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children or young people.
• Proactive, positive mindset with resilience and adaptability.
• Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English; French is a significant asset.
• Genuine enthusiasm for boarding life and willingness to lead and join student activities.
• Collaborative spirit and ability to build relationships within a diverse team.
• Valid driving licence for occasional transport duties.
