General Manager for Switzerland and Austria

About the role

AIG is seeking a General Manager for Austria and Switzerland to lead operations, drive strategic initiatives and hold full P&L responsibility across both markets. This senior position reports to the DACH General Manager and is part of the DACH Senior Leadership Team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Austrian and Swiss branches with accountability for underwriting discipline, portfolio quality and sustainable growth.
• Own the P&L for both countries, delivering against profitability and growth targets.
• Develop and execute country business strategies and annual financial plans within AIG GI International parameters.
• Steer distribution performance, focusing on strategic broker partnerships, retention and new production.
• Ensure high‑performing operations across underwriting, claims, distribution and support functions.
• Monitor operational risks and opportunities, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Represent AIG with major clients, brokers and regulators to strengthen market position.
• Lead hiring, talent development and build a diverse, inclusive culture across both markets.

Required profile

• Proven record of financial and operational success in general insurance, delivering profitable growth.
• Strong executive presence with ability to build long‑term strategic relationships in both markets.
• Experienced people leader focused on talent development and building high‑performing teams.
• Ability to influence a broad set of internal and external stakeholders in a complex matrix environment.
• Several years of experience leading country operations or large functional teams within the DACH region.
• Fluency in written and spoken German and English.
