Generative AI Designer Intern (Rotkreuz, Jan 2027)
Roche · Rotkreuz
Job description
About the role
CXSD, the Customer Experience and Solution Design team at Roche Diagnostics, is looking for a Generative AI Designer Intern to join ARC (AI for Roche Creators), a new squad exploring design at the intersection of creativity and AI. The internship starts in January 2027 and lasts 6 to 12 months; it is a practical internship only, so an academic thesis cannot be done alongside it. You will help move the design community from static digital prototypes to vibe-coded prototypes that look, feel and behave like real products.
Key responsibilities
- Turn concepts into functional prototypes, visual concepts, motion studies and 3D explorations using generative tools such as Claude Code and tools for image, video, 3D and audio
- Work closely with senior designers, human factors engineers, technologists and software engineers on design decisions in a healthcare context
- Build small internal tools, plugins and workflows using the One Design System and design tokens
- Translate design needs into clear technical requirements for engineering teams
- Support usability testing across planning, preparation, conducting and analysis
- Evaluate new AI models, tools and techniques and contribute to demos, workshops and training materials
Required profile
- Currently enrolled at a university or graduated within 12 months before the start of the internship in Interaction Design, UX Design, HCID, Computer Science, Creative Technology, Industrial Design or a similar field
- Hands-on experience with generative AI tools (coding tools such as Claude Code and generative media tools), with at least one project shown
- Fluent English
- For non-EU/Non-EFTA citizens: a university confirmation that the internship is mandatory and continuous enrollment during the internship
Required skills
- Solid UX, UI and interaction design foundation and practical Figma experience, with a project shown
- Front-end basics: HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript and React, able to read, adapt and debug code generated by AI tools
- Understanding of design systems and design tokens (e.g. Material Design)
- Nice to have: node-based or visual AI workflow tools, LLM APIs, simple AI agents, Arduino or Processing, and active participation in the AI or design community
To apply, upload your CV in English and a certificate of enrolment or degree certificate, and submit a portfolio with links to live prototypes or repositories. The preferred start date is January 2027.
