Global HIV Coordinator and Technical Adviser

About the role

The Global HIV Coordinator and Technical Adviser provides strategic, technical and managerial leadership for UNFPA’s HIV response. Based in Geneva, the post holder works across Programme Division branches, UNFPA business units and all regions to operationalise the Strategic Plan 2026‑2029 and advance HIV prevention and HIV/SRHR integration.

Key responsibilities

• Lead UNFPA’s global HIV strategy, ensuring alignment with the ICPD mandate and Sustainable Development Goals.
• Serve as UNFPA’s Global HIV Coordinator under the UNAIDS Governance Framework, handling governance, representation and technical coordination.
• Act as the principal bridge between UNFPA, the UNAIDS Secretariat, the Committee of Cosponsoring Organizations, the Programme Coordinating Board and the Global Fund.
• Support fundraising initiatives to expand the HIV portfolio and ensure financial sustainability.
• Build and maintain partnerships with global HIV agencies, donors and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Demonstrated commitment to international human‑rights norms and ethical standards.
• Proven ability to manage resources transparently and deliver high‑impact results.
• Experience in external relations, communications, partnership‑building and resource mobilisation within a complex development environment.
• Senior‑level expertise in HIV, sexual and reproductive health, and UN system coordination.
