Global Product Support Engineer (Grid Components)

About the role

Hitachi Energy is looking for a Global Product Support Engineer (80-100%, full time, on site) in Wettingen, Switzerland, to join its Global Product Support Team for the global Grid Components portfolio. The engineer helps shape innovative product solutions that meet industry standards, design rules and internal processes, while keeping the quality of suppliers and parts high. The role works in a global matrix organisation with R&D centres, Product Management, Quality, Supply Chain Management, Operations and Sales.

Key responsibilities

• Develop innovative product solutions following standards, design rules, guidelines and internal processes
• Lead and/or contribute to R&D and GPS projects, including process implementation and continuous improvement
• Collaborate with global R&D, GPS, Product Management, Supply Chain, Quality and Operations teams
• Investigate and resolve technical and quality-related issues
• Perform internal factory audits worldwide and ensure supplier, production location and component quality
• Create, maintain and release technical documentation such as schematics, calculations, drawings, parts lists, configurators and work instructions
• Maintain product master data in PLM (Windchill) and ERP (SAP) systems
• Support change management activities throughout the product lifecycle

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field
• First experience in a matrix organisation and working with cross-functional stakeholders
• Project management experience is a plus
• Willingness to travel globally (up to 20%) for factory audits and site collaboration
• Fluent English; basic German is preferred or willingness to learn it
