Global Technical Manager – Fungicide Disease Control

About the role

Syngenta Crop Protection is looking for a Global Technical Manager (f/m/d) for Product Biology Disease Control (fungicides), based in Basel. The role designs, communicates and implements technical development strategies for new products and technologies across R&D and Marketing, providing scientific and agronomic expertise and leading global field-trial implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead global technical development of new active ingredients and key strategic projects, from early field testing through to launch and lifecycle management
• Plan and coordinate harmonized field trial programs with research, regions and countries
• Define technical positioning and strategies for product use and development plans
• Translate trial data into recommendations supporting decisions, and support launch plans
• Lead biology activities within global MPTs, BSRTs and AIM Teams, and foster technical networking with customers and key influencers
• Drive innovation and identify new opportunities for active ingredients, formulations and technologies
• Support third-party products and lead the global resistance management strategy
• Partner with data scientists and digital experts, manage data and knowledge, and share insights across R&D, Marketing and regions

Required profile

• MSc or Ph.D in agronomy, with excellent knowledge of agronomy, farmer practices and agricultural sciences
• Broad knowledge of agribusiness and new crop protection technologies
• At least five years delivering development projects in country and region, and five years of local market experience in agronomy and disease control
• Experience working with R&D and familiarity with fungicides; recognized expertise in disease control and field-trial management
• Ability to bring local insights into global plans and to travel internationally regularly
• Fluent written and spoken English

• In-depth knowledge of technical profiles and positioning of Syngenta and competitor products
• Data analysis and visualization to communicate results to non-technical audiences
• Openness to new approaches including data, digital tools, AI and knowledge management
