Graphic Designer – Visual Impact & Exhibitions (CERN VIE)

About the role

Join CERN’s Visual Impact and Exhibitions team within the Education, Communications and Outreach group. As a Graphic Designer you will create high‑quality visual assets that support scientific communication and international collaboration in a multicultural research environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop design concepts and deliver creative solutions from idea to final production.
• Apply brand guidelines to produce cohesive multi‑channel visual assets.
• Design and prepare print materials such as publications, brochures, posters and long‑form content.
• Work closely with the ECO group to define branding for events and new projects.
• Collaborate with teams across the Stakeholder Relations sector and the wider CERN community.

Required profile

• Passion for graphic design and a strong interest in science.
• Ability to work in fast‑paced, multicultural teams and learn from experts.
• Fluent in English or French, with a commitment to learn the other language.
• Maximum two years of professional experience after graduation in Graphic Design, Computing or a related field.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree; no prior CERN fellowship or graduate contract; PhD holders are not eligible.

Required skills

• Portfolio showcasing design work.
• Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop.
• Experience using Microsoft PowerPoint and Word in a design context.

What we offer

• Monthly stipend of 5,266–5,793 CHF (tax‑free) for the duration of the 24‑month contract, with possible extension.
