Guest Lecturer for Design Studio (ETH Zurich)

About the role

The Department of Architecture at ETH Zurich invites an independent architect or architectural collective to lead a design studio for approximately 25 Bachelor and Master students. The studio runs two days per week over two semesters (Fall 2027 – Spring 2029) and focuses on speculative, innovative approaches to the future of architecture and construction.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver studio sessions that address climate change, digital craftsmanship, reuse, housing shortage, inclusivity and other pressing topics.
• Develop and present a teaching methodology that prepares students to become responsible actors in the discipline.
• Guide students through research, design development, and project documentation.
• Organise regular intermediate reviews and public final presentations with external guests.
• Foster interdisciplinary exchange between students, faculty and visiting professionals.

Required profile

• Independent practising architect or architectural collective.
• Maximum two years of prior experience leading an independent design studio.
• Ability to submit a one‑page teaching statement outlining vision and methodology.
• Commitment to be present on campus twice weekly.
• Not currently employed by ETH Zurich.
