Head of Middle Office

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Head of Middle Office to lead the middle‑office function across a diversified portfolio of traded physical commodities. The role ensures the integrity of the trade lifecycle, provides robust P&L oversight, and drives operational excellence across multiple locations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Middle Office function for all physical commodity businesses, ensuring effective controls and operational excellence.
• Build, develop and mentor a high‑performing team of Middle Office Analysts across several offices and jurisdictions.
• Oversee trade capture, deal validation and physical‑versus‑financial trade matching to guarantee accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies.
• Manage daily profit and loss reporting, attribution, mark‑to‑market valuations and exposure monitoring.
• Ensure robust oversight of position management and valuation controls.
• Own configuration, enhancement and optimisation of the Aspect ETRM platform to meet business requirements.
• Act as primary interface between Trading, Chartering/Shipping Operations, Credit, Finance and other support functions.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives, digital solutions and automation to enhance efficiency, data quality and risk transparency.
• Support development and implementation of policies, procedures and best practices to strengthen the control environment.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in a Middle Office, Risk or Trade Control function within commodity trading.
• Deep knowledge of physical commodity contracts and their trade‑lifecycle processes.
• Strong understanding of market‑risk fundamentals, forward pricing, exposure measurement and key risk metrics.
• Comprehensive knowledge of derivative products used in commodity trading.
• Proven track record of managing and developing teams in a fast‑paced trading environment.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with Aspect ETRM platform.
• Experience configuring and optimising ETRM systems.
