Head of Operational Risk Management (Executive Director)

About the role

As the Head of Operational Risk Management (Executive Director) for Private Banking in Switzerland, you will shape the way operational risk is identified, assessed, and managed across the legal entity. You will lead second‑line oversight, partner with senior stakeholders, and ensure a proactive risk culture that supports safe, sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the legal‑entity risk assessment process in Switzerland and ensure group‑wide consistency.
• Assess and mitigate operational risks while maintaining compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations.
• Align the operational risk framework with FINMA expectations and relevant European regulatory requirements.
• Participate in change‑management and new‑business initiatives, evaluating operational risk and challenging control designs.
• Receive, log, and monitor operational incidents; lead root‑cause analysis and administrative follow‑up.
• Track risk‑mitigation plans, audit recommendations, and implementation progress.
• Leverage data‑management and analysis tools to enhance risk monitoring, reporting, and decision‑making, including automation and process optimisation.
• Prepare concise risk reports and presentations for governance bodies and corporate functions.
• Contribute to oversight of generative AI and large language model (LLM) risks, identifying emerging operational risk trends.

Required profile

• University degree in Finance, Business, Law, Economics or equivalent professional qualification.
• Minimum eight years of experience in banking operational risk, compliance, or audit at a mid‑size or large financial institution.
• Demonstrated people‑leadership or major cross‑functional initiative experience.
• Proven ability to lead major risk initiatives across private‑banking operations.
• Strong stakeholder‑management and influencing skills with senior‑management engagement.
• Excellent analytical ability and attention to detail.
• Fluency in English (spoken and written) and French and/or German.
• Experience working with regulators or regulatory agencies in financial services.
