HR Generalist – People Operations

About the role

Thompson is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join its People Operations team. You will support a trauma‑informed, nonprofit environment that serves children and families across several states.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
• Manage unemployment claims, workers’ compensation, and ADA processes.
• Support leaves of absence and benefits administration as backup to the HR Specialist.
• Foster positive employee relations, resolve conflicts, and conduct unbiased investigations.
• Maintain HR file compliance, conduct background rechecks, and aid audit preparation.
• Partner with Talent Acquisition Specialists on full‑cycle recruitment when needed.
• Research and draft job descriptions for new or evolving roles.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum four years of experience in human resources.
• Strong knowledge of employment law, benefits, and compliance.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and embrace coaching.
• Commitment to a trauma‑informed approach and organizational values.

Required skills

• Experience with unemployment claims, workers’ compensation, and ADA processes.
• Background check administration and audit support.
• Full‑cycle recruitment support.
• Policy development and HR documentation.
