Information & Blockchain Security Specialist

About the role

BBVA is seeking an Information & Blockchain Security Specialist to ensure the security and reliability of its cloud and crypto‑custody environments. The role sits at the intersection of cybersecurity, cloud technology and digital assets, supporting both traditional banking systems and emerging blockchain services.

Key responsibilities

• Support implementation, operation and continuous improvement of information security controls, especially in Microsoft Azure cloud environments.
• Provide security oversight for BBVA’s Crypto Custody service, coordinating changes, assessing protocol impacts and supervising third‑party providers.
• Assess security requirements and risks for new solutions, conduct security reviews and define remediation actions.
• Manage security risks linked to external technology providers and ensure appropriate controls throughout the service lifecycle.

Required profile

• Professional experience in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Technology Risk or a related technical field.
• Strong understanding of cloud security principles, preferably Microsoft Azure, and of cryptographic controls.
• Good knowledge of blockchain fundamentals, especially Bitcoin and Ethereum, and ability to evaluate security implications without being a developer.
• Experience working with third‑party technology providers and communicating with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
