Internship in Reliability Testing for SiC Power Semiconductors

About the role

Hitachi Energy's Semiconductor Packaging and Reliability Engineering research team in Baden-Daettwil, Aargau, is looking for an intern to help develop a test platform for investigating the reliability of SiC MOSFETs. The internship focuses on threshold voltage stability under dynamic cycling and accelerated aging, lasts six months and is full-time.

Key responsibilities

• Run measurement campaigns and analyse experimental data using methods from academia and industry
• Study how electrical and thermal stress affect the performance and reliability of SiC MOSFETs
• Propose improvements to monitoring, including sensor systems, automated data acquisition and data analysis tools
• Help optimise a half-bridge converter platform for long-term dynamic reliability testing
• Contribute to measurement electronics and software for high-precision, extended-duration testing
• Document and share results with the research team, academic partners and business stakeholders

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or a related field (official enrolment required)
• Interest in power electronics, semiconductor devices and reliability engineering; experience in semiconductor characterization, high-voltage testing or PCB design is an advantage
• Fluent written and spoken English
• Independent and collaborative, with good communication and technical writing skills

Required skills

• Familiarity with electrical measurement setups and lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies and data acquisition systems
• Programming in Python, MATLAB, C/C++ or similar for data analysis and automation
