Junior Consultant – Fiscal Policy

About the role

The Junior Consultant – Fiscal Policy will support UNEP’s Net‑Zero Nature‑Positive Accelerator Global Platform and the IKI‑FAST project, helping countries design and implement fiscal measures that drive climate‑neutral and biodiversity‑positive outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse and develop fiscal policy options that align climate mitigation and biodiversity protection goals.
• Contribute to the IKI‑FAST project by designing public‑finance mechanisms that channel resources toward biodiversity.
• Prepare policy briefs, analytical notes and recommendations for UNEP’s Climate, Nature, Science and Policy and Finance and Economic Transformation programmes.
• Collaborate with the Economic and Fiscal Policy Unit and external partners to ensure policy coherence across finance, climate and nature‑positive strategies.

Required profile

• University degree in economics, public finance, environmental policy or a related discipline.
• Strong interest in climate change, biodiversity and green‑economy transitions.
• Excellent analytical and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and deliver high‑quality outputs within a 12‑month remote assignment.
