Junior Consultant – Insurance & Nature

About the role

The UNEP Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is looking for a Junior Consultant to support the integration of nature‑related risk into insurance underwriting and to advance sustainability across the financial sector. Based in Geneva for a four‑month assignment, the consultant will work on implementing the Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI) and the Principles for Responsible Banking (PRB) while upholding UN core values.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing methodology for incorporating nature‑related risk into insurance underwriting and risk frameworks.
• Conduct member consultation and research tailored for PSI members.
• Support outreach to financial institutions, regulators, and multi‑stakeholder groups to promote sustainability practices.
• Contribute to the technical agenda of the PSI Working Group for Nature.
• Ensure integration of human‑rights‑based approach, gender equality, and the principle of leaving no one behind in all activities.

Required profile

• Junior‑level background in finance, insurance, sustainability or environmental policy.
• Understanding of insurance underwriting, risk assessment, and sustainability principles.
• Ability to conduct research, prepare methodology documents, and engage with stakeholders.
• Commitment to UN values and gender‑equality principles.
