Lead, Assurance – Office of the Inspector General (2 positions)

About the role

The Lead, Assurance will head audit and assurance engagements for the Global Fund Secretariat and its implementing countries. Reporting to the Manager, Assurance, the role involves planning, executing, and overseeing high‑impact reviews in line with IIA standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and lead audit and assurance reviews, finalising risk assessments and defining scope and objectives.
• Review work performed by auditors and external consultants before senior stakeholder sign‑off.
• Ensure engagements meet timelines, budgets, and quality expectations.
• Engage senior stakeholders throughout the engagement lifecycle.
• Lead OIG staff and external consultants, providing coaching and performance development.
• Identify risks and internal control gaps, including emerging technology risks such as AI bias and model drift.
• Conduct value‑for‑money assessments using qualitative and quantitative evidence.
• Synthesize findings into clear oral briefings and written reports, agreeing on management actions.
• Support continuous improvement of audit methodology and contribute to training initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified assurance professional with extensive audit experience.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary audit teams and manage external consultants.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, especially with senior partners.
• Experience assessing risks related to emerging technologies.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IIA Standards and ISSAI guidelines.
• Familiarity with audit tools and risk‑assessment methodologies.
• Understanding of AI system risk evaluation (bias, transparency, model drift).
