Lead Auditor – Banking & Risk

About the role

We are looking for a Lead Auditor to join our Basel‑based financial client. The role involves planning and executing end‑to‑end audits across a variety of risk areas, including financial crime and business conduct, while acting as a trusted advisor to senior management in both Switzerland and selected international locations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, conduct and report on audits from scoping to final delivery, meeting deadlines and quality standards.
• Draft clear, impactful audit reports and present findings to the Head of Group Internal Audit, the Board of Directors and other decision‑makers.
• Serve as a sparring partner for local senior management and monitor implementation of remediation measures.
• Take ownership of the Panama and Bahamas locations – annual risk assessment, activity planning and primary point of contact.
• Participate in special investigations, projects and act as a Subject Matter Expert on emerging risk topics.

Required profile

• Banking apprenticeship, certified bank professional or a university degree in business; CIA, CFA or equivalent; CPA is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Lead Auditor in banking (internal or external audit).
• Strong analytical mindset, ability to prioritize issues and work independently.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English; additional German, French or Spanish is advantageous.
• Willingness to travel up to 30 days per year.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience with the Avaloq banking platform (advantage).
