Lead Portfolio and Performance Analytics

About the role

Sompo is seeking a Lead for Portfolio and Performance Analytics to join the newly created CUO Office for Continental Europe. Reporting to the Chief Underwriting Officer, you will build analytical frameworks and performance monitoring tools to support portfolio monitoring and sustainable profitability across commercial insurance operations.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate underwriting performance, prepare quarterly and ad‑hoc performance reviews, and identify trends to drive growth.
• Refine risk appetite, recommend growth or remediation strategies, and monitor execution against targets.
• Analyze risk aggregation across perils and geographies, support reinsurance and capital modeling.
• Conduct catastrophe loss scenarios, stress testing, and support capital planning.
• Collaborate with pricing teams on rate adequacy and underwriting actions.
• Develop predictive models and advanced analytics to automate underwriting decisions.
• Create executive dashboards, automate reporting, and provide data‑driven insights.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Data Analytics, Risk Management or related field.
• 5‑10 years of commercial insurance experience with large corporate portfolios.
• Strong understanding of underwriting principles, risk aggregation, catastrophe modeling and reinsurance.
• Experience with regulatory compliance (e.g., Solvency II) and capital modeling.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and influence senior stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python or R for predictive modeling.
• Advanced data‑analytics tools and dashboard creation.
• Knowledge of insurance product coverages and exposure impacts.
