Legal Counsel – Trade Finance

About the role

We are seeking a Legal Counsel specialized in Trade Finance to join our banking team in Geneva. The role involves overseeing financing transactions, negotiating contracts, and supporting corporate legal matters.

Key responsibilities

• Legal follow‑up of financing transactions, reviewing and coordinating loan documentation such as facility agreements, pledges, assignments and guarantees.
• Negotiating and finalising financing‑related contracts with clients and law firms, including loan agreements, security agreements and intercreditor agreements.
• Coordinating with external counsel on security enforcement, restructurings and default situations.
• Interacting with external lawyers, notaries and counterparties to execute transactions.
• Managing corporate matters including signing authorities, board resolutions and corporate housekeeping.
• Providing operational legal support on all contractual matters related to financings.
• Reviewing and improving internal legal processes, including contract management, approval workflows and powers of attorney.
• Contributing to the standardisation of contractual documentation.
• Collaborating with internal teams such as relationship managers, operations, risk, compliance and back‑office.

Required profile

• Swiss law degree.
• 5–10 years of experience in trade finance, preferably within a bank.
• Ability to manage a high volume of documentation with accuracy and efficiency.
• Excellent command of legal English.
• Strong autonomy, attention to detail, practical mindset and ability to work in a demanding operational environment.
